Tall, powerful and versatile, the Croatian was described as "one of the ten best players in the world" by his one-time national coach Mirko Jozic.

National team

Born in Split, Tudor made his international debut in November 1997 against Ukraine, and appeared three times as a substitute, aged 20, as Croatia finished third at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Injury robbed him of the chance to compete at Korea\/Japan four years later - Jozic saying: "Igor's absence means we have lost 20 per cent of our capability."

UEFA EURO 2004? qualifying

Injuries took their toll on Tudor, forcing him to miss three Group 8 qualifiers. He was fit for both legs of the play-off victory against Slovenia, though, and his considerable presence told.

Club

Previously with HNK Hajduk Split, where he played for three seasons, making 58 appearances in the Croatian Premier League, Tudor left his hometown club for Juventus FC in the summer of 2000 for €3.7m.

2000: Tudor proved an instant hit in Turin, establishing himself as a mainstay in central defence during the club's 2000\/01 campaign in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League - where he drew rave reviews. Tudor scored seven goals that season, including one against Hamburger SV, and six the following year as Juve won the Italian championship and the Italian Super Cup.

2002\/03: Tudor scored once in 14 appearances as Juve reclaimed the title. He also struck once in the Champions League, a late strike against RC Deportivo La Coru?a which prevented Juve's elimination and paved the way for them reaching the final, where Tudor was substituted after 42 minutes.
